Question

Is a GTX needed for PHOTO EDITING in LR Classic and Photoshop current versions???

Hi all - please help.  I can't seem to get a consistent answer to this question.  I've searched forums, queried blogs, asked salespeople...

If I am only doing PHOTO editing (not video) on a new, travel machine - do I need (should I have) an integrated /dedicated graphics card to use photoshop, lightroom classic, camera RAW and bridge (current versions as of Nov 2019) ?????

I keep getting different answers.

Seizing on the Black Friday deals - I want to buy EITHER a Microsoft SurfaceBook 2 (which has a Nvidia GTX 1050) OR the new SurfacePro7 (which does NOT have a GTX) for PHOTO EDITING whilst TRAVELING (not every day machine.)

I'd love to go with the lighter SurfacePro 7 because weight is a BIG DEAL to me (1.7 pounds) but I'm concerned Adobe will require a GTX card and outdate my new machine.

What is important to me:

  • Weight
  • Screen res / quality
  • INTEL processors
  • 512 gb / 16 GB Ram
  • Touch / Tablet and Laptop (I want it all 🙂
  • Windows
  • Quality product

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Thank you for the link to minimum requirements for Photoshop. The problem I am trying to resolve, however, is that I am only using photoshop for photo editing NOT all the extensive capabilities photoshop has to offer.  DOES PHOTO EDITING (just photo editing) in photoshop require a graphics card?  That is the question that is still on the table.  Thank you!!!!!
