Is Akami dlm necessary and why can't I install a trial of Premiere Elements without it?

When I want to install a trial of Adobe Premiere Elements 13 and it requires me to install Akami DLM software. What is this? Is this safe? I've read that it will continue, after installation, to upload information from my computer to someplace? True. Why does Adobe require this? Why can't I download directly from Adobe?

    You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.

      This also sounds good - I want to avoid that "download manager" thing. Ran into those things before and they do more than just "help you download." Unwanted things. Ned..when you say current serial number for activating the trial version...if I read that right...what serial number? I have Premiere Elements 9 - do I use THAT serial number?  A little confused on that...thanks, Larry

      you can still install a trial verison of premiere 13.

      if you purchase it, you will get a serial number that you can use to activate your trials.

      acutally, i'm not aware of any dl that requires it, but it's not always obvious how to avoid it.
