I used it at school and feel more at ease with it rather then Photoshop 6

No They are compatible with modern OS

CS applications are know to have issues on MAC OS 10.12 i.e. Sierra onwards and can't be installed at all on Catalina onwards and we are already on to Monteray so I am not sure what you are referrin to as mordern OS.

I don't use Windows much but I do see lots of issues cropping up for that as well on the forum, though those issues are not as blocking as on a MAC. However, we also need to realise that Adobe would also retire the activation servers sometime as has already been done for CS3. When the OP is willing to pay for the software, then I don't see any reason why someone should use a stale software on an old computer with no assurance on how long the software would work.

Not possible, Creative Suite versions are no longer sold by Adobe and also they are not compatible with the mordern OS'es. So even if you land a copy by purchasing it offmarket from someone you would have a tough time running it if at all it will run.
