Issue with downloading CC Desktop

I tried to run the CreativeCloudSet-Up.exe that installs the installer, however it fails after about halfway through the installation process (after about 3/4 of the bar is filled).  This is with explicitly running the app as Admin, as well as simply allowing it admin rights midway through.

The only error that it gives me is "We've encountered the following issues: Creative Cloud desktop failed to install." - nothing more descriptive.

The machine in question is running Win8.  Also, I'm running it with dual storage media - Win install on C (mSSD 128GB), Apps install on D (HDD 500GB).  I'm roughly 90% sure that I'd had the "default" installs point properly into D through regedits, though a few minor issues have cropped up.

Is there anything I could do to get this fixed?  Are there logs being stashed on the machine somewhere in the background?  Is there some way to change the install location?

I have not attempted to kill the "AAM Update Notifier" (assumedly, the CC Desktop whatever), as such a process isn't running on my machine.  Trust me, I looked through the listing carefully.

I have attempted to use the "hidden admin" method - net user administrator /enable:yes etc. - failed.

I have emptied the D:/Program Files (x86)/Adobe folder (The default installation location) and tried again.  Failed.

I have thus exhausted everything available in Post 3 of that thread.  I have not attempted anything in Post 6 as that solution is for Mac computers - I'm running Windows 8.

My issue is still not fixed, and I direly need Flash for class homework.
