Issues with Macromedia Studio 8

Hello there,

I wanted to inquire you regarding a rather lengthy and complex issue I am having with an older copy of Adobe’s software. I’ve tried contacting Adobe first hand on the issue, but they’ve not been terribly helpful. Last message I got from them regarding the issue is “We do no longer support this product, we will not be able to activate it for you. Thanks” but that’s beside the point of my query.

Roughly four or more years back, I installed cracked copies of Dreamweaver 8, Flash 8 and Fireworks 8 (there may have been more than those three, I can’t quite remember!) from the net onto my iMac. Dreamweaver and Fireworks I never used, so removed them early on, Flash though I kept until recently. I later concluded however, while the software was out-dated and no longer supported, it was unethical to resume usage and decided to locate a legitimate, physical copy of the software alongside an uncracked serial number and uninstall the cracked version. I informed Adobe of my use of the cracked versions and to my surprise, they seemed to turn a blind eye. 

Two weeks ago, I was able to obtain a legit and physical of Macromedia Studio 8 - Student and Teacher Personal Edition with a new serial number which included all the software I previously had (though I mainly wanted Flash 8!) in addition to Flash 8 Video Converter, Contribute 3 and FlashPaper that were not previously in possession. However, upon installation - it neglected to ask me for the serial for activation, nor did it ask for my academic status for that matter! I decided to test this on another computer to compare and on that computer; it DID ask me for a serial to activate.

So now I’m so confused!!!! I’m assuming because I had cracked versions of the software before, it took into regard my previous activation with the illegitimate serial? However, the current copies are educational editions; the cracked copies weren’t! Also, I didn't have Flash 8 Video Converter, Contribute 3 and FlashPaper previously - why didn't they require activation? For what reason has this all transpired?!

Rather frustrated as you can probably tell, I try and play by the rules and it gets me nowhere. Please help!!!!
