Just purchased Lr 6 at Office Max, but code to redeem on Adobe is "invalid" when I enter it

I purchased it Lightroom 6 at Office Max. I came home, entered the number, and I keep receiving "code is invalid" message when I try to enter it. Customer care is very frustration - been waiting for a rep to chat with for about 20 minutes. That's not the strongest customer service given the price Adobe charges for admission. Please advise. Thanks!

Thank you for your response. I ended up spending 2 hrs with adobe's 24/7 response team, including wait time, and I still didn't resolve it. Not exactly stellar service. I returned it to the store and am about to download the software. Wish me luck - and by luck I mean not needing to engage adobe customer "support".
