I have tried 3 times unseccessfully to install a trial version of Lightroom 4 with no active blockers on my Mac Book OS X 10.5.8. The icon that shows up will not open. It has said there is an installer error. What is the problem?

RLY? LR 4 requires OSX 10.6.8 and above. Unless this is a typo, it will never work on your system

Yep, you have to upgrade to Snow Lion 10.6.3.  You can still purchase it through Amazon or Ebay.  If you purchase 10.6.3, you can install and then upgrade to 10.6.8.
