I have a LR3 student edition and wish to upgrade to LR4 (no longer a student). Can I purchase an upgrade version or do I need to purchase a full version?

Hi.  I have Elements 8 and am thinking of updating to Lightroom 4, Do I qualify for the upgrade version of LR4 or do I need to buy the full version?

ElderlyGent, No, you cannot as its not a valid upgrade/upsell path. So, you need to purchase a full version of LR4.

Thank you, that's what I suspected.

Thanks Jeff, that is good news. I noticed that some upgrades specify (can be used on 2 computers desktop & laptop) while other suppliers does not stipulate this. Hardly any difference in price. My student edition did stipulate 2 machines. Can any version be used on 2 machines or do I need a spesific 2 machine upgrade?

Any retail version can be installed on up to two computers.  We do have volume licenses available but that is not for personal use and is usually purchased by companies/organizations.
