Lightroom 5.7.1 and move to Windows 11 machine

Just moved Lightroom over to a new Windows 11 PC.  Loads ok (after installing a needed DLL) but prompted me for the licence code.  Went into my Adobe account, retrieved the code and entered it, only to be told that this is an upgrade code and I would need the original as well.  This, apparently isn't shown on my account.  I have had this software for many, many years and several house moves and the original box has gone the way of many things.  I don't understand why the upgrade code isn't sufficient proof, but any help appreciated

You need to have (A) the original installed so the upgrade sees the old program or (B) the serial number for the old program

An upgrade needs PROOF of the previous version

Unfortunately, without the serial number of the version upgraded from, you won't be able to activate it.

Do you have the original version installed on another computer?  If so, you may be able to use a program like this to retrieve the serial number:
