Lightroom 5 Creative Cloud subscription installation failed on OS X 10.6.8

This morning I signed up for the Photshop CC / Lightroom 5 subscription.  My computer meets the posted system requirements shown on the purchase page (copied and pasted here from https://creative.adobe.com/join/offer/photoshop+lightroom):

Mac: Multicore Intel® processor with 64-bit support, Mac OS X v10.6.8 or later, 4GB ram, 10.5GB hard disk space.

In fact those are my exact specs - MacBook running 10.6.8 and 4Gb RAM with a 2.16Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

It's an older machine and I unfortunately can't update my OS beyond this point (newer OSes are not supported by this machine).  So, I was careful to check the system requirements for Photoshop/Lightroom before I signed up for the subscription.

Photoshop CC installed fine but the Lightroom 5 installation failed.  Here is the error report:

Exit Code: 7

Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR: DW006 ...
