Lightroom 5 [Trying to reinstall: will not accept my serial number]

I recently upgraded my computer..I had Lightroom 5 on it since 2012.

Found my original email with download link and serial number.

Downloaded Lightroom 5 again..installed..

But it would not accept my serial number..

I understand Adobe does not support it anymore.

Is there a solution ?

Does this mean I have to purchase Lightroom CC ?

Are you entering a 24 digit serial number? All numbers, no letters?
