Your answer did not work for me as the compatibility option is greyed out - although I am a local admin.

Have tried running setup.exe as admin but get the same message - it still stops after serial number entry when asking to "click on product name to customize options".

Have tried installing after running compatibility troubleshooter - Windows tried to install as XP SP2.

It appears that the initial setup.exe of 77 KB is the problem.

Ran the actual set-up.exe of 2766 KB located in "Win Support Files" folder and now get past that problem and it is now installing Visual C++ 2010

Update - install ran fine and completed successfully.
