Lightroom and Nikon d500

I recently purchased a Nikon D500 camera and my Lightroom version 4 does not support this camera. I was advised that I had to upgrade to version 6 so I purchased a stand alone version of Lightroom version 6. I downloaded my purchased software to find out it still doesn't support my camera's raw files because the software supplied on Adobe's website is the original version 6.0. I then discover that I need version 6.6. When I try and update my software via the updates section of the software I am not able to download the update because of poor internet service.

I have 2 questions

1. If I purchase software and download it why wasn't the latest version of the software provided when I purchased my product?

2. Where do I get version 6.6?

Because of the internet service where I am it took me 2 days to download software that is out of date and still doesn't work. Why doesn't the Adobe website provide the latest software when you purchase it? This really is a despicable practice. Also I am very disappointed that it is so difficult to buy a stand alone version of the software. Not everybody wants a subscription service especially when you have extremely limited internet availability.

Also how can I contact support directly to get an answer to my problem?

Just for the record,

  1. The D500 was first supported In Lightroom 6.5 (not 6.6)
    Cameras supported by Camera Raw
  2. The current version of Lightroom is 6.10.1 (which includes all updates from 6.0 through to 6.10.0).
Keep your Lightroom version up to date
  3. You can manually download the latest version by clicking on the > Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 link near the bottom of this page
    Download Photoshop Lightroom

I've no idea why Adobe does not supply the latest version when you buy the software. There seems to be an unspoken assumption that you'll check for updates yourself immediately after purchase.

Pmarty I am sorry you are facing difficulty updating Lightroom 6.  Your suggestion is actually implemented in our subscription products and the latest version is installed when the request is made through the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop application.  You can find more details on the process at Download and install Creative Cloud apps.

What specific error are you receiving when you attempt to update Lightroom 6 Pmarty?  The error will be located in the installation log for the update.  For information on how to locate the installation log see Troubleshoot install issues with log files in Adobe Creative Suite (CS6, CS5.5, CS5), PS Elements, and Premiere Elements.

Hi Jeff

The problem is that because of the slow internet connections here the Adobe Application Manager won't even initialise to start downloading the updates. How can I gain access to a downloadable version of the software that supports my camera? I have done the right thing and purchased the new version of the software and it is not up to date.

There must be a method of downloading the most current version of the software via a URL rather than the Application Manager for customers that are in developing nations with poor internet services.

Please advise.
