Lightroom CC Update freezing on "Cancelling" when cancelled

The LIghtroom CC (2015) app has been frozen like this for a while.  Any way to kill it?  Desperate to get back to a client project.  This is ridiculous.  Any thoughts appreciated.

quit your cc desktop app and restart it.

Unfortunately that did not work....tried that countless times.   After a couple hours of frustration, I backed up my catalogs (yes, I know they are unaffected but uninstalling things scare me); uninstalled Lightroom and reinstalled it.   Then it worked.
