I purchased the lightroom adobe package that said I have access to lightroom classic not lightroom cc- how can i access the classic

Did you purchase the Photography plan? If so you have access to both Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic CC. To install and get started using Classic CC, follow the instructions in this help document: Lightroom Classic CC Get Started​.
