Correct answer Govardhan.V

I followed those steps and tried to install. It got to about 35%, said "extracting" for a second, and now it's been saying "waiting" for about 30min.

Hmm may be it is waiting for some other process to complete the task or may be network connectivity.

Check if the Apple update is being installed in background via Activity Monitor. if yes you will need to wait, if not , restart the Mac once and then after rebooting try to install Lightroom again.

or Will do one thing , enable Root user account and login to root account and try to install. Later you can simply disable Root account and continue with regular account.

Here is what I did to get the fix (windows 10):

I deleted all the mics install files in the temp directory!

C: drive/Windows/Temp I then preceded to delete all the temp files in the folder that were from the day I tried to do the install. After that I signed out of CC and signed back in. I then began the LR install and there after the BR install. All finally worked! Before the above fix I had tried at least 20 failed attempts.

Windows or Mac?

Is the installation process simply getting stuck @ 42%  or Are you getting any error message?

Make sure that your user profile has Administrator rights.

Clear Tmp folder and try to install again .

Steps :

1) Right click on Finder and select "Go to Folder"  option.

2) You will get a text box, please type-in exactly below command and then hit return.

/tmp
3)It will open tmp folder.
4)Delete all contents present inside tmp folder.

Still same?? let us know.
