LR Totally Not useable after update

I recently updated LR to 6.2.1 on my loaded Mac Book Pro running 10.10.5.  To say it it sluggish is an understatement. LR takes well over 6 minutes to quit without backing up the catalog.  If I try to select a group of images by star it will take over 20 seconds.

I get the following error each time I try to upgrade.

Extension Manager 6.0.8 Update

Installation failed. Error Code: U44M1P7

    Sorry for the inconvenience.
