LR v3.x upgrade to v6?

Back in 2009, or thereabouts, Lightroom v2.x (later upgraded to LR v3.x both w/legit S/N's) was installed on a machine no longer in service. At that time I didn't have much time for photography so LR went mostly unused and not upgraded any further.

Now I like to get back into the hobby. Downloaded the latest LR v6.x from Adobe webSite but install fails because of old and apparently unsupported LR v2 or v3 S/N transfer to this last Desktop version. A call to  the Adobe licensing team line ended with them essentially saying "Tough Luck" - The Desktop product is obsolete and we can't (won't) help...

Don't want "Cloud" package but, as I mentioned to Adobe support, willing to pay for proper upgrade.

So I guess the bottom-line questions are;

  1. Anyone else struggling with this issue and have a viable solution?
  2. Does the LR 6 package($149) currently available through Amazon include a proper S/N for full install as first time User?

Thanks!

Bob

    Lightroom 6 is dead technology. It was last updated in 2017. It's almost impossible to purchase. There won't be any more updates and Adobe no longer supports it. Why waste your money? You'll be on your own with software you may struggle with.

    If you don't want the Adobe Cloud then look for other similarly-priced solutions which are in very active development.

    There's lots out there: Adobe Photoshop Elements, Capture One, OnOne Photo Raw, Skylum Luminar and others. All have free trials available.
