Question

M1 MacBook Air, Big Sur, Photoshop won't open ... additional info regarding compatibility...

I want to own the Photography plan and did, indeed, own it until I upgraded to this laptop as described in the subject. I read the post that stated that, if all else failed, to create a new Administrator User. I do NOT want to have more than one log in on this computer. Is there any way to know when, if ever, all Photoshop issues will be fixed on M1 MacBook Airs running Big Sur. (not shouting here, just emphasizing: I PREFER USING LOCAL STORAGE AND LIGHTROOM CLASSIC WITH PHOTOSHOP) How do I ever know whent to purchase this plan again?

I will admit, I am not the most progressive user, but I am using Luminar and Aurora and DarkTable and Canon's Digital Photo Professional 4. It's a workaround, at best. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

If you have problems and you have an existing plan, you won't solve the problems by paying for another plan !

I know. I cancelled the plan. That's why I'm using a patchwork of other
software.--

The latest Photoshop runs natively on M1 chip now.  No Rosetta 2 translation required.

But DO read the release notes.

There have been some significant changes to PS 2021, namely the old "Save As" is now "Save as Copy" which was necessitated by something Apple did in Big Sur.  And if you've used PS for as long as I have, you may remember this feature from the past.  But some folks are not too happy about it.

Owing to all the rapid & in some cases radical changes MS and Apple are making to their operating systems, I'm afraid bug-free software is a thing of the past.  There will always be issues of one kind or another that must be sorted out.  So go ahead and pull the trigger.  There's no point in waiting to buy a new plan.

Please ensure your computer meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements to run Creative Cloud + OS + all other apps you use. Check each one.

Pay particular attention to Photoshop's new GPU requirements. See links below.

For best results, remove old software first.  Start fresh with the latest CC desktop app followed by PS, LR Classic, etc...
