Mac OS X Yosemite: Creative Cloud Update Error 1002 and CC Uninstaller won't run.

I’m a full CC subscriber since 2012.

When CC Desktop tries to update itself, I get Error 1002. I've read the Error 1002 support paper. I tried Solution 3, but the first Terminal instruction returned:

lrwxrwxrwt@ 1 root  wheel  11 Jul  1  2012 /tmp -> private/tmp

The last character was not “t”, as specified in the instruction, so I did not continue with Solution 3.

Proceeding to Solution 4, I have tried to launch the Creative Cloud Uninstaller from both its alias and the original. Absolutely nothing happens.

It’s been about 4 years since CC Desktop was able to update without some byzantine, time-consuming and extremely frustrating solution. And Adobe still collects their $50.00 from me every month.

Hello, Adobe? Is anybody listening?? I’ve been a loyal customer since 1991 but I’m starting to wish there were a real alternative to being held over a barrel like this.

You’ve tried so hard to help me that I feel guilty about having no success to report. The problem with downloading CS6 apps is that now you need a serial number and I don’t have one because I never bought it. I was using CS6 when Adobe converted to subscription. Lesson learned: I should have bought CS6 outright.

I just don’t have time to configure and learn my way around six or eight sets of new bells and whistles. From the ProDesignTools articles, these problems continue to be very common. Interestingly, there is no Direct Download for the CC Desktop app. I’ll limp along without an up-to-date CC Desktop as long as possible.

Thank you for all your efforts.

if you have a cc subscription (and want to install cs6), install the cc desktop app from here https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud and use it to install previous versions (eg, cs6) if you don't want the latest versions.

uninstall everything cc including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials

Thank you, kglad.

After uninstalling all my CS6 apps and preferences, will I be able to download and reinstall them? It takes so long to configure preferences for all these apps, will I be able to retrieve them from a back-up? How do I do that?

All of which begs the question: why do I have to go through this extremely time-consuming process every time Adobe updates the CC desktop app for Mac?

restoring your preferences varies depending on the program and how much customization you do.

i'm most familar with adobe animate which i'm exquisitely particular about.  i have a set of panels positioned and sized exactly to suit me and i have a set of keyboard shortcuts and other customizations exactly suited to me.  i've setup the various versions of flash and animate so many times (i've been installing and using flash for about 20 years including beta testing), i can do all that in about 5 minutes.  the most resent versions have a sync feature which (when it works) restores my preferences within one minute.

for programs i use less often (eg, photoshop) i don't even both customizing.  i just use a standard (essentials) workspace.

i have no idea why you have problems when cc updates.  i've had cc installed since the day adobe released cc and i've had it installed on 4 pcs and 2 macs with 3 different win os'es and 2 different mac os'es and have never (.please don't let this curse me) had a problem.
