(MAC) Photoshop/Lightroom CC 2017 won't start up

Hi! Since a week Photoshop or Lightroom CC 2017 won't open (the are the only two Adobe apps I own). First the app icon bounces like up and down for a small minute followed by no more action at all. No dialogue screen or anything, all I can do is force shut down through the app icon.

I don't recall doing any update whatsoever. This is a sudden and new problem. I'm running the software on the latest iMac. No other issues noticed. Does anyone know how I could solve this issue? Thanks a lot!

reset your preferences -

lightroom: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

photoshop:  https://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776

if that fails,

uninstall everything cc including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials
