MacOS Mojave 10.14.4 freezes whenever ANY Adobe app is opened (All latest versions)

Hello there,

I’m a graphic and web designer and since updating to Mojave any time I open ANY adobe application my Mac freezes entirely, and I have to shut it off manually.

My system is a late 2015 iMac Retina 4K 21.5” with 8GB RAM. I boot from an external Samsung SSD, and have successfully run this system this way for two years. I recently noticed some lagging and slowing on High Sierra when using Photoshop, so I decided after 6 months of waiting to finally install Mojave, now I don’t lag at all, I just freeze!

All adobe applications are installed on my system and are the most current CC versions. Everything is fully updated as far as Mojave and all Apple apps are updated as well. Everything else works great.

Any ideas?

uninstall everything cc including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.

if you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 4 here, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials

I had the same problem: update to MacOS Mojave 10.14.4 and couldn't use Illustrator or Photoshop, both broken.

The update seems to break all Creative Cloud programs… I just got the endless beach ball.

I was able to fix the problem thanks to Kglad's solution although I wasn't able to do it exactly as suggested.

What worked for me:

1. ran the Creative Cloud Uninstaller app (Kglad's 2nd link)

I didn't have the cloud cleaner in my utilities (Kglad's 3rd link)

The Photoshop & Illustrator uninstallers wouldn't launch

2. I manually dragged all Adobe application& utilities to the Trash

For the next three, type cmd-shift-G to go there

3. saved my Illustrator & Photoshop prefs from

~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator 21 Settings/en_US

~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 Settings/ (.psp files & "Modified Workspaces" folder)

4. went to  ~/Library/Preferences/ and deleted anything starting with Adobe

5. emptied the Trash

6. restarted

7. reinstalled Illustrator & Photoshop

8. gingerly put back my preferences while making sure the programs would restart

THIS WORKS!   To fix Acrobat ONLY.  Now Photoshop wont install.  It says it's 'unable to create symbolic link'
