Major problem with the troubleshooting info on Akamai Download Manager.

As I tried to download the trial version of Adobe Media Server, I found that I was required to use this 3rd party downloader, which doesn't even work properly. I clicked the direct download button (as suggested by the popup window) if the download manager doesn't work, but that didn't work either. My main browser is Firefox, and it appears that that's where the problem was. As soon as I switched to using Internet Explorer, the Akamai Download Manager suddenly worked. The troubleshooting info at Troubleshoot Akamai Download Manager 3 | Trial products does not explain this. Adobe Employees, please add this bit of info to your troubleshooting info page in the future, and also on the trial version download instructions on the download page itself. It's important that people trying to download trial versions of software from the Adobe website know that Firefox will not work for this, and that they must switch to Internet Explorer instead, so they don't waste time like I did trying to figure out why the download isn't working.

It is not the browser as much as it is settings within the browser.  Which settings I do not know, but the general recommendation offered to people with an issue such as you faced is... "Make sure you are logged in to the Adobe site, have cookies enabled, clear your cookie cache.  If it continues to fail try using a different browser."
