Membership Cancellation Charge???!!!!

Question

I signed up to Lightroom CC in March 2019 with Adobe telling me that I can cancel at any time....

Well, I finished the project I was working on and after two months of not using Lightroom, decided to cancel..

TO MY SURPRISE, if I cancel I will be charged EUR 49 for 1/2 of the yearly balance if I had stayed as a member...what the hell?

What can I do to not have to pay for something I am not using without being charged a cancellation fee?!!

Only 12 month contracts which auto-renew unless you cancel.All have an early termination fee if you cancel before your 12 month contract has ended.
