Move Photoshop elements to new computer - licence failure

Can anyone help? My Windows laptop has broken and I want to move my copy of Photoshop Elements to a new MAC. I can download and install the software with no problem but when I try to enter the licence key it fails. Having searched on the web and here it looks like I may need a new key but I have no idea how to get one.

Adobe will not give you a serial number to install a Windows version on a Mac

You must buy the program again http://www.adobe.com/products/elements-family.html

Or, as stated, if you bought the disc version you use the 'other' install disc and serial number

You can't use a key for Windows on a Mac.

You can with a disc-in-a-box version of Elements. But not with the downloaded version.
