Multiple Software Versions Causing Major Lag. Which Versions to Keep?

Hello!

I need a bit of guidance here.  My Mac has become increasingly laggy since installing CC (years ago) and today I noticed there are multiple versions of each software installed on my computer. I did a lot of searching, but couldn't figure out which versions I should keep - some posts say I needed to keep at least two versions because one may be buggy (this sounds insane), and others say I should uninstall everything and start fresh (which also sounds insane.)

I literally have:

2 versions of Photoshop (23.4.2 and 22.5.8)

2 InDesign ( 17.3 and 16.4.2)

4 Premier Pro (13.1.5, 14.9, 15.4.5 and 22.5)

3 After Affects (17.7, 18.4.6, and 17.7)

2 Bridge (11.1.3 and 12.0.2)

3 Audition (13.0.13, 14.4.3 and 22.5)

4 Media Encoder (13.1.5, 14.9, 15.4.5, and 22.5)

2 InCopy (16.4.2 and 17.3)

3 Prelude 9.0.3, 10.1 and 22.1.1)

At this point, I'm willing to do anything.  It takes me an hour to get one process complete anymore, and my machine is in tip-top shape.

Any advice? Thank you!

K.

you only need the latest version.

there are some older programs for some apps that may be needed in some circumstances, but that's atypical.  and if it were to occur, you can always install the older version that does what you need.

There are many causes of lag, some of them mysterious, but I've never seen any suggestion that having multiple versions installed would cause it. I think you may be optimistic if you think cleaning up versions will help. Have you tried, in fact, running the oldest version? Sometimes the lag is newly introduced.

I uninstalled the previous versions and things are running smoothly again. Thankfully, my optimism paid off - but I will definitely take older versions into account if the problem comes back...so, thanks for that advice! Have a good day.
