First find out what aspects of your system are not up to the spec requirements, then consider your options for getting those aspects up to snuff.

Trying to download Illustrator, but I am getting the same error that the previous person is getting here in this thread.  I can't get a new computer right now.  Can you please help me and tell me if there's anything I can do to my existing computer to get it up to snuff [enough] to use Illustrator for the time being using my current Macbook Pro?

Yes, you can upgrade to later version of macOS.

Also, replace your hard drive with an ssd and up the ram to 8 gb or 16 gb and your computer will feel brand new.

Upgrade your computer or get a new computer.
