I have bought CS 6 a year ago, the CD, and have never had any success with it. It crashes my computer and now nothing opens up.

Can you provide some technical information regarding your system?  This appears to be your first posting.  Can you provide some of the history with seeking assistance for it previously?  Can you also provide some of the history that leads you to say "never had any success with it"?

    Thanks Ned,

I have Windows XP Version 2002, service pack 3

    AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual

    Core Processor 4400+

2.31 GHz, 2.75 GB of RAM

I bought a licensed version of CS6 about a year ago. I do have older Adobe programs like Illustrator 9, Pagemaker 6.5, Photoshop 7 etc. previously installed on my computer and still use.

Since I have installed the CS 6, the programs would crash my computer and seemed very unstable. So I kinda gave up on it for the last 10 months or so and just didn't use CS 6. Now I have a friend of mine thats doing a newspaper and wants me to look at it since I have been a press operator in printing for 30 years.

So recently I tried to use my Adobe App Manager and it says the program encountered a program needs to close.

I went to the adobe website and reset my ID and password thinking maybe it needs to be updated since I haven't used CS 6 for a while. Then did a bunch of updates from the site.

I do have Idesign open now and it hasn't crashed but the Application manager is still wont load.

I don't know what to do, CS 6 gives me grief everytime I use it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Jeff

While your system appears to be within the spec requirements for a variety of the CS6 applications it looks like you could use a bit more RAM (I don't know much regarding processors/hardware to begin with).  For InDesign the minimum is 1 GB with 2 GB recommended.  Assuming your system has more going on at any given time you are likely pushing it.  Illustrator also specs 1 GB but recommends 3 GB for a 32Bit system and 8 for  64Bit.

One thing you can try is to uninstall and use the CS Cleaner Tool.  t won't do anything relative to memory use, but it might untangle some snags that you might have.  Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

As far as the Application Manager goes, I have had terrible luck with that myself, particularly with respect to updates.  I simply don't worry about automating them at this stage to preserve my sanity.

The information you have provided might attract the help of someone who knows a little more to be helpful.
