My hard drive crashed and has been replaced. I am unable to uninstall CS6 Master Collection to reinstall.

Hey Everyone!  I am new to this forum and would appreciate some direction. My hard drive crashed and has now been replaced. I was able to salvage some of the old drive and the technician put my apps on the new drive but they are not operable (error 1) and require reinstallation. The uninstall programs for CS6 cannot be located on the drive (they are only Alias"). They installed the new OS 10.11 on my replacement drive.  I have the install discs and my serial number but cannot safely uninstall the product. I tried Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool but the apps are still there. I also tried reinstalling over the existing CS6 Master Collection but it gets hung up and freezes. Please help! I would be so grateful! Thanks!

Hi,

Try deleting the below mentioned folders if you want to remove adobe CS6 apps from your machine it should help:

1- Go To: Finder > Applications > Utilities > ( Delete these two folders - Adobe creative cloud and Adobe Application Manager , if present )

2- Right click on Finder icon and  select "Go-To" Folder option.

3- You will get a text box, type-in below command and then hit 'Return' key.( " Do not miss ~ symbol " ) -~/library ( It will open User Library folder. )

~/library > Application Support>Adobe ( Trash this folder )

~/library> Cache > Trash all Adobe files and folders from here

~/library> Preferences > Trash all Adobe files and folders from here

4- Again > Right click on Finder icon and  select "Go-To" Folder option.> You will get a text box, type-in below command and then hit 'Return' key./library ( It will open System Library folder.)

/library> Application Support>Adobe ( Trash this folder )

/library> Cache > Trash all Adobe files and folders from here

/library> Preferences > Trash all Adobe files and folders from here

5- Restart the machine and Empty the trash

6- Download and install CS6 again from here : Download Creative Suite 6 applications

Some general comments (which you might want to share with the person who "restored" your programs)

Mac Migration and Time Machine and simply copying programs from one drive to another DOES NOT WORK with Adobe program activations due to hidden registration files

As you have already discovered, this creates havoc with the registration system... so I hope what Bani posted works to get you back to a clean drive so you may reinstall

Now, for the really bad part... CS6 is going on 4 years old, is no longer updated, and many people have reported problems with newer operating systems

Some possible fixes in reply #4 https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1971051

-in a Premiere Pro discussion, but MAY help with other programs

Bani!  You are a my hero! I followed your instructions exactly and it appears all is well in my CS6 world again. Even with El Capitan, all systems seem to be a go. Thanks for the link below, John. If I run into any problems with 10.11, I'll be sure to look for help there.  This community board is a life-saver.  Thanks guys!
