My serial number is not activating Fireworks 2004

I am trying to register Fireworks 2004 and it appears to register, yet when I reopen Fireworks it asks me to enter my serial number again.

I've tried using Adobe's keys for Fireworks 2004 (REMOVED) yet the same happens.

How can I get around this?

[NEVER POST A SERIAL NUMBER IN AN OPEN FORUM !!!]

[You have just given your serial number to everyone who read this message before]

[I deleted the number... or people who receive all their forum messages via email]

What operating system are you using?

If it's windows vista or newer, you might have to run Fireworks as an administrator for the directions adobe posted to work.

Error, "Unable to Activate" in Macromedia legacy products

Right click on the Fireworks shortcut, select Run as Administrator, try the adobe method posted here and restart Fireworks as you normally would and see if it sticks.

Perfect! That did the trick ... running as Administrator enabled me to enter the key and have it stick.

Thanks R_Kelly, John and Ned for your help.

Thanks for your panicked concern about posting serial numbers in forums ... but as I mentioned, that was "Adobe's key for Fireworks 2004", as posted on their website: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/macromedia-legacy-activation-error.html I'm hardly likely to post my own serial number on the internet ... LMAO

Thanks Ned and John ... I've tried using the "Activate by phone" option too, but it also fails to register within Windows registry. Never mind, I'll try to persist ... and possibly by trying to fudge an entry directly into Windows registry directly.

    Happens daily in these forums.

That's why it was removed here even though it's an Adobe non-activation serial number freely available to anyone on the web.

The serial number that was posted by the OP is the published serial number in the legacy Macromedia link in your post.

The OP is saying that not even that serial number is working.

I'm not sure what to advise because Adobe Customer Care won't support MX 2004 beyond pointing to the link in your reply.
