need another serial number for cs3?

Help!

I have a 2008 iMac and just upgraded to a macbook pro.

I'm trying to upload my CS3 software onto the new laptop, but it doesn't allow me to register. Says a problem occurred.

It might be because I have the CS3 software installed on the old computer and I only have one license, but I don't want to deactivate my old computer until I'm able to restore from (time machine) backup and make sure all my files are good. How do I proceed? I might want the software on both machines for a bit but eventually will be using the macbook exclusively.

Can't find a phone number to help with this.

Thanks in advance

Oh - and - I will be getting the CC soon from my employer, but this is in the interim and I know it's lame, but it's all I have. And I have design work to do.

You are not likely to get much help with this due to support for the product being dropped by Adobe chat and phone support.  Your license allows for two activated installations, so if you only ever had the one activated installation then you still have one available to use.

If when you say you tried to register the product you really do mean register, you only register the product once.  Activations are a different story - occurring as needed and able.

If you mean activate rather than register and can provide more information regarding the error message(s) and your system that could prove helpful for anyone who might try to assist you.

Thanks for your response Ned. Appreciate it.

I actually clicked the Register Later button and the program InDesign seems to be working, although I still haven't been able to open a document. I'm trying - but this (brand new) computer seems to be moving really slow when I'm working with my backup drive plugged in, and trying to access my old files from my iMac. A lot of spinning going on right now.

Since you did indicate the word "register" again, you do not/cannot register more than once in the lifetime of you owning the license.  It is your indication to Adobe that you own one of their product licenses.
