Need to enter qualifying serial number for CS5

Hi all!

I am trying to download my previously purchased CS5 on my new computer, and when I click "install" I get an error message that says:

"Install can't be opened. You should eject the disk image

"Install" is not on the disk image.

"DesignStandard_CS5_LS1.dmg" Safari Downloaded this disk image today at 10:24 AM from helpx.adobe.com "

Anyone experience this? When I click "eject disk image" as prompted, it just ejects it and I'm left with nothing and just happens every time I try to download it.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for your quick reply!  It's refreshing to know it doesn't sit around for days, weeks or months until someone sees your problem

I have all serial numbers for CS5 (and elements). I did not upgrade CS5-I purchased it from the online store to my previous laptop in 2010 as a first time install. This new laptop of course does not have a previous PS version as it is 1 day old. Unless I am so tired from lack of sleep that I am not understanding or being clear with my information.

CS5 was the first version of the full feature software that I had ever purchased and installed.

    Thanks again John!

your serial number is for an upgrade version.  using a different installation file won't change that serial number and it won't change that upgrade message.

when starting your installation you're prompted for your cs5 serial number.  when the installer fails to find a qualifying product (ie, previous version) installed, you will be presented with a dropdown of possible qualifying products.  select the one you own.  you will then be asked to enter the qualifying products serial number.

enter the correct number at the correct time and installation will proceed.

I am having the same type of problem. Purchased CS5. Received a new computer yesterday (win 10) and I get the error message" The serial number you have entered is correct, but a qualifying product cannot be found on this computer". I downloaded and installed CS5 straight from the Adobe store to my previous laptop. I am trying to put it on my new laptop. s!AsKj5ga_8CDAbkLanqy5_4-3Qcg  I hope I linked the screenshot correctly. Only had 3 hrs sleep last night.

    Thanks for your help!

When you install an UPGRADE program you will need to provide the serial number of your previous program

Lost information - see reply #1 in https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2008767

    - page has links to programs to find an installed serial number in Mac or Windows

    - includes link to your Adobe account to check for registered serial numbers

    - when you find your serial number(s) write them down and put in a desk drawer

sierra is incompatible with older software. adobe's posted a work-around for cs6 that will get you past that problem:  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/install-creative-suite-mac-os-sierra.html

you will probably encounter other problems but should be able to get some of your cs5 working.
