Need to run CS on Windows 8 computer

Question

I previously had Photoshop 5.0 and needed to get a cheap alternative to that program. I bought CS online and when I installed it, it asked for verification of the older version of photoshop. Here's the problem...my old version was for a Mac so the disc is not recognized on my PC. It's been so long since we used it that I didn't realize it was for a Mac. Any suggestions on how to get around this? Thank you!

If you really do mean CS, as in CS1, while it is questionable whether or not you can expect CS to work on Windows 8, it is likely you would not get your downloaded CS to work anyways due to a lack of supporting activation servers.

See the following - chances are you won't need to worry about the older version, or even CS.
