New hard drive: Trouble re-installing CS4 Student License.

So, the hard drive in my Macbook died.

I installed a new hard drive and tried unsuccessfully to restore from Time Machine backup several times before giving up and installing a fresh OS Mavericks.

I still have the original discs, however, the optical drive on this machine quit long ago. So far I've been successful dragging applications over from the backup on my external drive, but when I go to open my Adobe software I am getting error messages: InDesign says something about missing Roman.txt, Photoshop says I need to restart, etc.

I'm fairly certain this is linked to serial numbers and the limited student license, but not sure how to fix it.

HALP!

Thanks.

Looks like Belarc is only for PC (I'm on a Mac), and not sure it would work to recover from a backup on an external drive since the reason I'm having this issue is having to install a clean OS on a new hard drive.

Dropped CustService@Adobe.StudentLicensing.com a line. Guess now I hurry up and wait.

    Thanks!

    Waiting on the download now.

I suspect I will still run into trouble with the serial number / student licensing.

Is there anyway to recover my serial number or obtain a new one?

you can recover your serial number from a pc that has your software installed, Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit, for software, hardware and security configuration information on your computer.…

and, if you purchased from adobe or registered with adobe, adobe support may be able to help by going here https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html and clicking 'still need help'

uninstall (if you can), or delete (if you can't uninstall) everything adobe that you 'dragged', clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and properly install adobe programs with the adobe installers.
