Old Creative Suite license issue

We have an old physical copy of Creative Suite 1.0 with disks and license sticker on the box. The license is currently in use on an old XP machine that we need to upgrade to Window 7. There is no deactivate option, and the product will not activate once installed on Win7.

We talked to one Adobe representative who said the CS1 & 2 activation servers were taken down. He referred me to a web link with downloadable CS2 media with a license key (yes CS2 not the CS1 that we have).

After downloading and installing this with the license key provided, it says there is a problem with the license. I talked to another rep who said they only handle customer service and that I need to post on the forums for technical support.

So can someone help us out here? We just want to get our old product re-activated.

Thanks.

What exactly does it say in full?

Have you tried uninstalling CS2 then re-installing?

it sounds like you got appropriate help from that adobe rep.

you cannot activate your cs 1 programs.

you can use the matching cs2 programs from here using the serial numbers listed next to the program, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.html

Yes it seemed that way to me after I talked to the first rep. But I downloaded the media from that page and used the license from that page, and it says, "Your Adobe Photoshop username, organization, or serial number are missing or invalid. The application cannot continue and must now exit". So something clearly is amiss here. And yes, I am using the serial number corresponding to the media I downloaded (windows).

    Thanks for the reply.

EDIT: Well this was a fresh install until the installer asked me to enter CD 3. So I cancelled the installation, extracted all 3 media disks to the appropriate locations, uninstalled everything, and then reinstalled now that all media was extracted. But even if this technically counted as using the license once, we have two XP machines that use different licenses and the rep said this license would work multiple times.
