pdfs not opening & crashing on me

after being told ( my comp) that i needed to install new versions , i did & now i cant open any pdfs, it freezes my comp when trying too & it crashes giving me the msg like " unable to display some media on this page as the pluggin has crashed'.... so frustrating what is the solution? i tried uninstalling it but still didnt work.!
