Question

Photoshop CC says up to date in CC Desktop but Camera Raw is still 8.3

When I look at my CC desktop app it says Photoshop is up to date but I know it's not becaus it's still using Camera Raw 8.3 and the 8.4 has been officially released for a week now.

It detected that my Lightroom was needing an update so I think the CC desktop is OK.  Also, when I go into Photoshop and select "Updates" from the help menu it does not find any updates.

I already tried signing out and deleting the OMM.db file or whatever it's called and that did not work.

This is not the first problem I've had with updates either.  One of the solutions says to remove and reinstall the app needing updates.  How am I supposed to know if an app needs an update if it does not prompt me?  The only reason I know about Camera Raw is because it's tracked by the photo community and people need that updated all the time to support new cameras.

Fc4122 can you please confirm the version of Camera RAW you are currently utilizing?  You can find the version by completing the following steps:

    Mac OS:

    1. Launch Photoshop CC
    2. Go the the Photoshop Menu and select About Plug-In
    3. Choose Camera RAW

    Windows:

    1. Launch Photoshop CC
    2. Go to the Help Menu and select About Plug-In
    3. Choose Camera RAW

If you can please post the version of Camera RAW version which is indicated it would be appreciated.

If you Camera RAW 8.3 is listed then please remove and reinstall Photoshop CC.  If necessary the installation logs can be reviewed to determine why the update may have failed.  You can find more details on how to review your installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.  You would want to focus on the log file for the Camera RAW update which failed to apply.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

As I stated in my original post my Camera Raw is at version 8.3.

I'm not having a problem with an installation failure.  The problem is that the software is not aware that an update is available.

I'm really getting sick of uninstalling and reinstalling my Adobe software every time an update comes out.

Fc4122 if you would prefer to review the installation log for Camera RAW first to determine why it may have failed you are welcome too.  Without knowing the exact error you are receiving it is difficult to provide additional guidance beyond attempting to reinstall Photoshop CC.

Do you find that you are often prompted to apply the same updates again?  Also which operating system are you using?  Is your computer in a managed environment?
