New Mac (OS 10.12.3) without disk drive. Tried to installed from original disks mounted remotely. Install stopped. Downloaded the disk image. It verified and opened but as soon as click the installer the message "install can't be opened" appears and tells me to eject disk. Same results with Illustrator. Need help.

CS6 and earlier programs have not been tested and will not be updated for Mac El Capitan/Sierra

-which means that you try to use CS6 and earlier at YOUR risk of having problems

Owners of old programs simply have problems with Mac El Capitan/Sierra... none of which is Adobe's fault... Adobe did not change your old program to make it stop working... Apple changed their operating system and THAT is why your old programs won't work, not because of anything Adobe did... Also... every time Apple issues an update, there is the risk that an old program that HAS been working will STOP working... bottom line, old programs require a matching old operating system

PS 5 was running on a mid-2010 Mac Book Pro under OS 10.12.3 and doing ok in terms of speed considering that the machine only had 4 GB of ram. Thus, it is not an operating problem. The problem is that the installer is not functioning.

Running after being installed and upgrading the operating system is NOT the same as installing

The problem very much IS a compatibility issue between CS5 and Sierra

To install an old program on Mac Sierra you MUST follow the steps in the link I provided

If those steps don't work for CS5, then you simply will not be able to INSTALL CS5 on Sierra
