Photoshop CS6 standalone: impossible to choose installation directory (El Capitan w home folder on separate SSD)

I have had to do a fresh install of El Capitan and am reinstalling all software (sigh).

My home folder resides on a separate SSD (i.e. not on the boot drive). I want to have all my applications in the boot drive's /Applications folder, not in my home folder's /Applications folder.

When I run Photoshop CS6's installer the "Location" field is set to the boot drive's /Applications.

BUT what is truly weird is that when I press Install, the software nevertheless ends up in my HOME FOLDER's /Applications folder.

What the heck is going on here? I've tried three times, initially thinking I must have simply picked the wrong /Applications folder, but now I see it's as if the home folder's /Applications folder is hardwired into the installer somehow.

Thank you very much for any suggestions

Philip

    Hi Philipus,

In case of a Mac machine the default location for All apps is Applications folder, if case you want to change that location you'll need to contact Apple support, as they can assist you in changing the default location.

To check and confirm that it is installed on your Boot drive or not, you may check the Application Support folder in you system library and if you see the Photoshop folder in there it means it is installed on your Boot drive.

Location :  Right click on Finder icon and  select "Go-To" Folder option. You will get a text box, type-in the below command and then hit 'Return' key :

/Library (It will open System Library folder)

Then navigate to Application Support > Adobe

Let us know if this helps.

‌ Just a follow-up question: if it's no possible to ensure that Photoshop is installed in the boot drive's Applications folder, can it be moved?
