photoshop serial number help

I am trying to install PS6 to my macbook pro and the serial number doesn't work.  I mistakinly bought the Windows version first online, then they sent me the mac version to install and a cd in the mail.  Now when I try installing the PS6 CD to this mac, it says I am entreing an incorrect serial number.  I am using the serial number that is in my orders at Adobe.com.

    Use the serial number on the DVD case not the one in your Adobe account.

    The serial number are also platform specific hence you should have the different serial number that wil work on Mac.
