Photoshop Start Up Problem

I have successfully installed Adobe Photoshop 7.0 on a Mac G5 Power PC,  from the CD with a valid Serial Number.  The operating system is Mac OS X Leopard, version 10.5.

However, when I try to run Photoshop 7.0, I receive the following error message "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a program error. Photoshop will now exit".  OK

This message is displayed if I try to load Photoshop by double clicking on the Photoshop progam Icon, or if I try to load one of the sample photos.

I have tried to re-install Photoshop 7.0, but that doesn't fix the problem.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?  How can I fix the problem?  How can I get more detail information about what pogram error is being encountered so that I can debug the system?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Here are the system requirements from when Photoshop 7 was released in 2002.

  • PowerPC G3, G4, or G4 dual processor
  • Mac OS 9.1, 9.2, or Mac OS X v.10.1.3
  • 128 MB RAM (192 MB RAM recommended)
  • 320 MB hard-disk space
  • Color monitor with 16-bit color or greater video card
  • 800x600 or greater monitor resolution
  • CD-ROM drive

I would not be surprised if it also has a requirement for Rosetta to be available.  You can certainly try the steps listed in Troubleshoot system errors, freezes | Mac OS 10.x | Adobe software - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html.

I would recommend upgrading to a current version of our software but we do not have any current offerings for a G5 processor.
