Please delete my Adobe ID account

Hello, I want my Adobe ID account (meaning this account I am posting with right now) to be deleted. GDPR tells you to comply with that request.

The reason I post this here is that the chat help is never available and there are no other options to contact.

Regards,

An annoyed user

All account-related requests must be made through the official Customer Care channels (phone and chat). These forums are not part of the legal notification route for GDPR.

Hi,

I understand that you need help but this is a peer to peer forum, we can't delete your account. Adobe staff hang out here just occasionally but i am not hopeful if your request will be catered by them looking at this post. Customer care is where you will have to contact and get this done.

Not an answer I am happy with but I guess it's the truth. I don't understand how Adobe thinks its a good idea to basically rollback 25 years of progress and force its customers to show up for service during opening hours again instead of being able to just send an email. I guess that's not something you can do anything about though. So thanks, anyway.

Adobe is an American company, and very much built on a domestic model. They open during US working hours, and close for US holidays. Everyone else has to just live with it. Not good, but not likely to change.

As to GDPR, there is no absolute right of deletion under Article 17, only for data that is inaccurate or no longer required for processing (the Google "right to be forgotten" is an entirely separate matter). Adobe will have legitimate reasons for retaining customer data, such as fraud prevention and tax reporting, and so the removal of an account, in whole or in part, must be subject to detailed legal review. Plus there are some things that Adobe simply cannot comply with because their systems are not designed to cope with the forensic-level purging of data that GDPR expects.
