Premiere Elements 4.0 re-installation impossible after XP crash

After XP crash (windows directory only), re-installation of Windows XP I lost all registery and "Documents and Settings" info. I have to re-install evry program I have (had).

The most bizzare is reinstallation "Premire Elements 4.0" - all I am getting is a very funny message:

"The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 could be completely installed.

Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again."

No hint why I cannot install the program! I tried a few times - and I got the same message.

Please - could you suggest something more resonable? I cannot un-install - because there is no info to do it. Even if I removed the directory with the program, I could not re-install it.

You can try using the Microsoft Fix It tool available at http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall.  It may allow you to remove the entries for the program.

Did you try just installing Windows over itself or did you format the computer, reinstall, and restore your documents from backup?

Jeff,

thanks for the hint. I was not aware that Microsoft is attempting to help user with petty problems. Actually, the "Fix it" is still rather not very proficient yet. It did not help. Anyway, I think it is time to move on. It is no point to hang to very old software. The new one in the same category is rather expensive. I have seen Vegas in action .... for a good price.
