Installing from DVD.

The installation process has encountered an error while installing Shared Technologies.

Please restart uyour system and try again.

Second and subsequent attempts produce the same error.

Followed the three pieces of troubleshooting advice from the Adobe website.

Packaged the problem with ID 40-81558-004221012014

What do I do now?

I notice another question with the same problem unanswered since 15 December 2013. I hope not to wait that long.

I am having the same problem as "yraG128".  While attempting to install PSE12 on a Windows 8 PC I get an error message:  "The installation process has encountered an error while installing Shared Technologies. Please restart your system and try again."

I have also followed the directions provided at the link I show below; namely, delete the two files, reboot and install PSE again. I did this 3 times. (Insanity=Trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results.) Yep, I guess I'm guilty.

PLEASE...CAN SOMEONE AT ADOBE PROVIDE ASSISTANCE?

    Thank you.

Here's the Help link that I refer to above. The "solution" did not correct the problem:

Wlliert please see Install rollback and Shared Technologies | Windows for additional steps to resolve the Shared Technology error.  If you continue to receive errors you may want to start a separate discussion thread with specific errors you are receiving.

I may not have made myself clear: my statement "Followed the  three pieces of troubleshooting advice from the Adobe website" means that I have been to the KB item you cite and it did not help:

    1. Archived the OOBE folder and reinstalled - no joy.

    2. Downloaded and ran ASA. It reported "Creative Suite" errors which I did not understand since that is not my product.

    3. Looked for everything described in "Analyze the Main Installation Log manually" and found none of the cited errors.

    4. Reran ASA and created the package whose number I quoted.
