Problem installing CS 5.5 Design Premiun InDesign on new computer

In 2011 I successfully installed CS 5.5 Deisgn Premium on my Windows XP machine. Recently I replaced that system with a new Windows 7 machine and have again successfully installed CS 5.5 Design Premiun - with the exception of InDesign. My first installation attempt resulted in exit code 6 for InDesign, but more recent attemps have resulted in exit code 7. What do I need to do to install InDesign?

uninstall your flash player, Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

    then install indesign cs5.5

test indesign to make sure you can export a swf.  (id cs5.5 needs fp 10 to export swfs.  i don't know if it will work with newer fp versions.)

if all is working well you could uninstall the old fp 10 installed by id and install that latest fp version.  then retest indesign.

if you're able to export swfs, you're good to go.  if you're not able to export swfs, you'll need to decide between using id cs 5.5 and having fp 10, and no id cs5.5 with a newer fp version.

I uninstalled Flash Player and then tried again to install InDesign; the result was the same error/fatal messages.

Next, I uninstalled Flash Professional and Flash Catalyst and then successfully installed InDesign (including Flash Player 10).  Then I reinstalled Flash Professional and Flash Catalyst.  Lastly, I successfully exported a swf.

    Thank you for your help.

I performed all the steps in the solution above - but still had no success in installing InDesign.  Digging a little deeper, I noticed that these are the error messages that resulted from my installation attempts:

ERROR: DW020: Found payload conflicts and errors:

ERROR: DW020:  - Adobe Flash CS5.5 depends on Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX to be installed.

FATAL: DW020: Conflicts were found in the selected payloads. Halting installation.

How do those message relate to the installation of InDesign?  Adobe Flash Player 14 ActiveX is installed on my machine and my installed Adobe Flash CS5.5 appears to work correctly.

install using compatibility mode and see if that resolves the fp 10 issue.
