Question

Problem with installing when I've had it installed on 2 computers

I had Dreamweaver CS6 (I know, but my husband prefers it, so I still have it) installed on two computers. The laptop started to die, so I uninstalled everything I might want to migrate before taking it for repair. It is not repairable, and won't restart at all any more. I did officially do "uninstall", I didn't just delete the files and folders, and I assumed it would phone home to Adobe to report that. Apparently not. Now, when I try to install it on the replacement computer, it tells me I already have versions on 2 computers, and I need to de-activate one.

How do I inform Adobe that the phantom program is no longer on the now-dead computer?

When you can't properly deactivate a serial number
(this is the ONLY support Adobe still offers for old programs)
BE SURE TO ONLY ASK FOR ACTIVATION SUPPORT TO ADJUST YOUR ACTIVATION COUNT
You may need to PERSIST or TRY AGAIN to find a support agent with more experience

Be sure to remain signed in with your Adobe ID before accessing the link below
Do be aware that wait times are sometimes long before an agent responds
.
You MUST make sure that your browser does NOT block ads, scripts, or pop-ups
You MUST also allow 'cookies' in your web browser for the link to work
This will NOT work if you are using a VPN
.
This link will go directly to the chat option
https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
Type "Agent" in the chat box to bypass the chatbot and be connected to a person
-Meaning type in the word Agent in the lower right, without the quote " " marks
or
Twitter tweet @AdobeCare
.
Adobe does NOT do support by email, so beware of answering anyone who sends you a private message

check your account (https://account.adobe.com) if you purchased from or registered with adobe and deactivate from whichever devices you want and thereby restore your available activations.

if that's no help, contact adobe support and request an "activation count reset".

there are 2 ways to contact adobe; chat and twitter:

chat:
use a browser that allows popups and cookies
and click here, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
in the chat field (lower right), type AGENT
be patient, it can take quite a while to reach a human.

twitter:
tweet @AdobeCare

p.s. if you're contacted by anyone (via email or private message), it's much more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative. ie, double check for an employee badge if contacted in the forums and look for an adobe.com domain in the email address if you click reply to an email. then check again and be very suspicious. any other method of contacting (or offering to contact you) is almost certainly a scam, https://community.adobe.com/t5/using-the-community-discussions/staying-safe-in-the-adobe-support-community/td-p/12919684/redirect_from_archived_page/true

I did purchase it from Adobe (a long time ago), but it doesn't show up anywhere in my account, even though it is still actively in use in another computer. So I will try the suggestions from you and John T Smith. Thanks!

you're welcome.

p.s. if you can remember and you check under the adobe id used to purchase/register, it should be listed.
