Problems downloading Photoshop Elements 9 software to my new computer using Windows 8

Can someone please assist me in getting my software to work on my new computer.

I have installed the disc...... almost at the end of installation the computer froze and eventually after a couple of hours, I removed the disc and interupted the installation.  I switched the computer off and restarted. I then tried to uninstall.... but then was prompted to put the disc back in to unistall, but the program looked like it was trying to install again!

Eventually after waiting for about half an hour, nothing was happening and i have given up.  I just want to use my software!

i then went into the Control Panel>All control panel Items>troubleshooting> selected> system and security> fix problems with windows update - now I can actually open the photoshop version.... but when I trying to do something to the photo, an error appeared and shut down the photoshop!

Basically can I use this software with my new windows 8 computer?  If not is it possible to download and pay for an upgraded version so I can use with Windows 8?

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Yes, you can upgrade to 'PSE 11 which should work on Win 8. specific to your install issues, it might help to know what exact errors you are getting. You may simply have to try and run in some compatibility mode and of course the usual: Turn off UAC, turn off security tools, run as admin.

    Hi There

Thanks for your reply.  The error messages i can find are as follows:-

ERROR 1705. A previous installation for this product is in progress. You must undo the changes made by that installation to continue.  Do you want to undo those changes?

    YES or NO

    then I found this

Files that help describe the problem

Files that help describe the problem:

      C:\Users\Julie Greig\AppData\Local\Temp\WER2383.tmp.appcompat.txt

      C:\Users\Julie Greig\AppData\Local\Temp\WER2931.tmp.mdmp

but when I map to the above locations they don't exist in my view!

    This is very frustrating

I have just done what you suggested to turn off the UAC and turned off the security.  when you say run as admin - what do you mean?

    Thanks again for any response.
