Problems installing Photoshop CS5, why does install say it is damaged?

When I have downloaded CS5 from the Adobe site and tried to install I get a pop-up saying, “Install” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should eject the disk image.

What does this mean? How do I download and install CS5 correctly? I have paid for a serial number so really want to be able to download this onto my new laptop!

Thank you!

When you ask a question you need to provide some basic information

    -Forum quick start https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-5601

Mac or Windows, and EXACTLY which version of the operating system?

Recent Mac AND Windows operating systems have been known to cause "odd" problems

Are you using a computer Administrator account with full read/write permission?

IF Mac El Capitan read below

CS6 and earlier programs have not been tested and will not be updated to run on Mac El Capitan

-which means that you try to use CS6 and earlier at YOUR risk of having problems

-you may get CS6 and earlier programs to install and run, or you may not (some do, some don't)

    -Java https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/dreamweaver-java-se-6-runtime.html may help

Install CS5 on Mac 10.11 https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2003455 may help (also for other than CS5)

-also a TEMPORARY security change https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2039319
