problems installing PS Elements and Premiere Elements 10

I just installed Photoshop Elements 10 and Photoshop Premiere Elements 10 on my Windows 7 professional 64-bit computer. I installed from disks ("Adobe Elements Combi X NL 64, so 64 bits in Dutch).

Installation does not give any errors. Both Premiere and Photoshop have the same problem: the intitial Welcome screen comes up. But if I click one of the options (Like "edit", "Organize", "Open project", "New project"etc). nothing much seems to happen: the icon in front of the "button" changes into a moving icon for some 10 seconds, then the original icon is back and the program doesn't start.

Also in the taskmanager I don't see any changes (no new processes being started; the processes "Photoshop Elements 10.0.exe *32" and "Adobe Premiere Elements 10.exe" are running). What can be the problem?

I had installed CS5.5 in Dutch on my computer. After installing Elements I removed this software, but that did not give a better result.
