Problems with activating Photoshop CS3

Hello Everyone,

A client of ours, was trying to install he's Photoshop CS3 on hes new computer (a brand new - out of the box Lenovo laptop). But he encountered a problem when he tried to activate the software. It was unable to connect to the activation server regardless of what we tried.

Prior to Photoshop, he had installed a Acrobat Pro, which went through just fine.

We also added Photoshop to the firewall to ensure it had a good connection to the internet (which where working fine, I was connected through a teamviewer).

Currently Photoshop is running a 30-day trial mode.

We've tried the steps in this link (where applicable to CS3):

Advanced solutions to connection errors with Adobe Creative Cloud and Creative Suite applications

Is the CS3 activation servers down?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards

Henrik

    Hi Henrik,

Kindly let us know if Adobe Photoshop CS 3 that your client has is a stand alone version product or is it a part of a full Adobe Creative Suite 3, along with this also let us know the operating system and its version of your clients machine.

As you have mentioned that you have tried the steps given here Advanced solutions to connection errors with Adobe Creative Cloud and Creative Suite applications, just to confirm kindly let us know if you have tried to reset the hosts file as well?

    Awaiting your response.

    Hi Bani,

    Thanks for the prompt response.

It is a standalone product and not part of a suite of applications.

We are installing on a windows 10 64bit platform, which is a completely fresh install, so the host file is in "mint" condition so to speak.

However I will check it anyway, just confirm its "ok", allthough i wouldn't expect to find any problems there.

I will report back my findings.

I'm not sure if its relevant, but we did prior to the photoshop installation, install Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 - which installed just fine, without any problems.

    Hi Henrik,

Thank you for sharing the details, I would recommend you to try installing Adobe Photoshop CS 3 in compatibility on your machine, see, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15078/windows-make-older-programs-compatible

However Adobe Photoshop CS 3 is a very old product and we have not tested it on the latest operating systems, hence there could be compatibility issues and it may or may not work.
